

The wearing of a Thai amulet is a Buddhist tradition in Thailand and there is a Thai amulet available to give protection, ward off disease, defend against evil spirits (Phi), gain some advantage in various aspects of life and even to increase the wearer's potency. The majority of Thai Buddhists will have at least one Thai amulet and they are worn from an early age.
They can be made from many different materials and usually are about 2-10 centimetres in height. They are worn about a man's neck on a cord or chain. The most popular image is that of The Buddha but you can also find images of famous Monks. Many Temples manufacture these amulets for sale to provide funds for the upkeep of their Temples.
There is a huge market in Thailand for the sale of these amulets with some changing hands for millions of Baht.
